ESMA targets climate related disclosures
On 29 October 2021, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), issued its annual Public Statement on European Common Enforcement Priorities (Statement). These include the impact of COVID-19 and climate-related matters, provide guidance on the measurement of expected credit losses and highlight disclosure obligations pursuant to Article 8 of the Taxonomy Regulation.
This highlights the importance of ensuring adequate related disclosures are included in offering documents and marketing materials in line with the Sustainable Finance Disclosures Regulation (SFDR) and Taxonomy Regulation.
